Luke Tate, the mayor of Slate Springs, Colorado, has decreed that in the territory of Slate Springs, two men can marry one woman in order to entice marriage aged citizens to the mining town. In order to kick off the decree, Luke and his brother, Walker, decide to take a mail order bride. How will Celia react when she realizes she is getting two husbands for the price of one? A Wild Woman: Piper Dare is the youngest and only girl out of six children. Her five older brothers are overly protective of her since their parents died when she was young. Because of their overprotective natures, she can’t get a beau to court her. She just wants to have a home and family of her own. Spurgeon Drews, the doctor of Slate Springs, Colorado and his best friend Lance Haskins, decide to take on a mail order bride. However, the gun toting, gambling, wildfire Piper is not what they expected. What happens when the husbands find out the truth about Piper and her trip to them? A Wicked Woman: Eve Jamison has worked hard to earn an education so that she can teach and support her wicked stepmother and two stepsisters. However, her stepsisters have another idea in mind for Eve. When Eve finds out the soon to be husband she never met or wrote has died prior to her arriving to town, she is back at square one. However, the Dare brothers, Jeb and Knox, do the gentlemanly thing and help Eve out. Just when they are finding love, in steps her wicked stepsisters asking for a handout. Will this change how the Dares think of Eve? This was the first time I had read anything by Vanessa Vale. I was truly surprised that I enjoyed the stories. Usually, I do not go for threesomes, reverse harems, polyamorous relationship novels. Although the premise was the same in each story—two men in Slate Springs indoctrinate a single female to their way of living—the author tried to diversify the men. Except for the Dare brothers, the other men had some emotional issues that needed to be overcome in order from them to proceed with the relationship fully. I mean in theory sharing a female sounds great, in practice, it is another situation. The steam factor in these stories is fine. After the first story, it is not as exciting and steamy because the author limits the imagination for the boudoir. I finished the series wanting to read more about Slate Springs and hoping for an epilogue or follow-up.
